What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates attention, motivation, and impulse control. It looks different for everyone – sometimes as restlessness, sometimes as exhaustion from masking, and sometimes as a general difficulty with planning and organization.

Our role is to build understanding of these patterns together with you. We explore how ADHD may affect your mood, sleep, executive functions, and relationships, and we identify the strengths you already use.

“ADHD isn’t a lack – it’s a different way of processing information and energy. Understanding that can change how you live and work.”

During your assessment we explore:

  • Your concentration and planning across work, studies, and home life.
  • Emotion regulation, overwhelm, and any co-occurring conditions like anxiety or low mood.
  • Developmental history and how your symptoms have changed over time.
  • Coping strategies that already work for you.

We welcome input from partners, parents, or teachers when helpful — always with your consent.

What to expect

Your ADHD assessment journey

Every step is tailored to you. We balance clinical structure with space for questions so you leave with clarity — not more uncertainty.

1

Preparation

After booking, you receive a welcome pack with questionnaires, guidance on gathering school or workplace reports, and tips if you feel nervous. We review timelines and confirm who will attend each meeting.

  • Online forms designed to take 20–30 minutes.
2

Clinical interview

A structured conversation about strengths, daily routines, challenges, and medical history. We explore ADHD symptoms alongside any co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, OCD, or autism.

  • Held via secure video or at one of our clinics.
3

Diagnostic formulation

The physician or psychologist analyzes interviews, rating scales, and supporting information to form a full picture. We look at how symptoms show up across settings and rule out other diagnoses before confirming ADHD criteria.

4

Feedback & next steps

We meet to review results and you receive a detailed report with tailored recommendations, letters for work or education if needed, and a plan for continued support.

After the diagnosis

Support that continues after assessment

An ADHD diagnosis is a starting point, not the finish line. We work with you to turn insights into a practical plan that fits your goals — whether that’s succeeding at work, regaining confidence, or supporting a child at school.

Follow-up sessions can focus on medication review, coaching, or therapy.

Coaching

Structured sessions that turn the report’s recommendations into sustainable routines and systems.

Family education

Workshops and resources that help loved ones understand ADHD, improve communication, and create supportive homes.

Medication

Guidance on pharmacological options, dose adjustments, and coordination with your GP for continuity of care.

NICE

Our standards

We follow national guidelines to ensure every assessment is ethical and evidence-based. That means we:

  • Use validated diagnostic tools across interviews, rating scales, and observational data.
  • Consider differential diagnoses and physical health.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team for complex needs.

When medication is appropriate, we create shared plans with your GP and offer follow-up dose adjustments.
